Downtown Denver Wedding Photographer – Courthouse Wedding

A day in the life of a Downtown Denver Wedding Photographer…Imagine waking up, brushing your teeth, starting your day and then looking down at your phone. You have a text message from a new number asking if you can photograph their wedding…that day. I definitely woke up after reading that!
The text was from Allie. She said that she and her boyfriend, Cody, had recently gotten engaged and decided that they didn’t want to wait to get married, they wanted to go to the courthouse and seal the deal. She texted me, we discussed details for later that day, then biked to a local floral shop to get her florals for that evening, and last organized their outfits for portraits.
Walking into the courthouse, I was so excited. Excited to be a part of such a fun moment and excited with the spontaneity of it all. With permission, I was able to photograph them while signing their marriage license and filling out their documents, and was even allowed to go behind the desks to get a different angle. However, the best part may have been the set up they had in the ballroom next door with an alter…and a cut out of Elvis.
We cheered and left the courthouse and spent the next hour walking around downtown Denver to find great spots for portraits. Denver is full of so many amazing opportunities for photos. From buildings, to alleys, to parks and green space, we found so many great spots within a short distance from the courthouse. Some of my favorites are Civic Center Park, the City & County Building and the colorful walls near the ART Hotel.
As a Downtown Denver wedding photographer, I would highly encourage couples to make sure they do their day, their way. This couple didn’t want to wait to get married, so they orchestrated their own version of a perfect day. Whether you want a big destination wedding, a Denver city wedding or an elopement on a mountain…it’s about you, so make sure you do it your way.
