Jennie and Richard were married at Boettcher Mansion in Golden, Colorado on one of the snowiest days Colorado had seen in a while. While this day was full of so much love and joy, this Boettcher Mansion wedding was also full of some nail bitting moments.
With snow comes ice and hard to manage driving conditions which makes getting up a mountain quite tricky. The majority of guests were arriving via a shuttle service from their hotels, however the bus driver was unable to maneuver the bus to the venue due to the ice on the roads. The people on the bus included very important guests like the mother of the groom, sister of the groom and the father of the bride.
After the first look, we all had a pow-wow to try to figure out how the guests would get up to the venue. We suggested Uber XL’s, finding another shuttle or sending guests that had already arrived back down to rescue them. We decided to send some of the vendors and guests to the stranded bus to get everyone to the venue.
As a Denver wedding photographer, I have photographed many weddings in snow, but never once did I have a nail bitter this bad where I wasn’t sure if everyone was going to make it. Needless to say, we were all relieved when guests started entering the doors and were able to start the ceremony with everyone in attendance.
My favorite parts of this Boettcher Mansion wedding was getting to run outside with the Jennie, Richard and their wedding party to shoot in the complete white-out. I loved the stark white background and the pops of burgundy in Jennie’s shawl, Jennie’s sister’s dress, and the guy’s ties. I also loved their meal because it was completely different than the normal. Their whole entire menu was vegan, which I didn’t even realize until halfway through because someone told me. Kudos to Three Tomatoes for that!
The whole day, despite being stressful at times, was such a joyful winter wonderland and I am thrilled that I was able to be there to capture Jennie and Richard’s big day.

I LOVE these! What a wedding to remember not only for the bride and groom but the guests and vendors. I love how warm and personal these photos feel and the last one with the flowers and reflection is magic.

Oh man getting to that mansion is no joke, so glad everyone was able to make it in those icy conditions! That is the risk you take when planning a CO wedding Oct-April, but so worth it, these pictures are gorgeous! My favorite is the last shot, was that a double exposure on film, or a reflection??
